★Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened

4 eggs

2 cups of sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon salt

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 package (21 oz) cherry pie filling

For the optional vanilla glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

★Directions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until well combined.

Spread two-thirds of the dough mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.

Spread the cherry pie filling over the dough layer in the pan.

Drop small spoonfuls of the remaining dough over the cherry filling.

Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden brown.

Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
