Suggested Delicious Filling: Chocolate Ganache Filling
Ingredients for Ganache:
- 8 ounces bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions for Ganache:
- Heat Cream: In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not boil.
- Add Chocolate: Remove the cream from heat and add the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for a minute to melt the chocolate.
- Stir: Gently stir the mixture until smooth. Add the butter and vanilla extract and continue stirring until the butter is completely melted and the ganache is smooth and shiny.
- Cool Slightly: Let the ganache cool slightly before using it as a filling.
Assembling the Pie:
- Prepare Base: Follow the instructions for the boiled water pie to create the crust and the base filling.
- Layer Ganache: Once the boiled water pie has cooled, pour the slightly cooled ganache over the top of the pie, spreading it evenly.
- Chill: Allow the pie to chill in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours or until the ganache is set.
Enjoy!
