2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon mustard

1 teaspoon chili powder

★Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sloppy Joe Filling:
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or turkey) over medium-high heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Pour the remaining cornbread batter over the sloppy joe filling, spreading it to cover the filling completely.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the cornbread comes out clean.
