How To Keep Your Strawberries Fresh for Longer
★Instructions
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, melted butter, salt, and vanilla extract. Add the eggs and mix well.
- Add the activated yeast mixture to the bowl.
- Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until the dough comes together and is smooth and elastic. You may not need all the flour.
- Knead the Dough:
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Donuts:
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Use a round cookie cutter (about 2-3 inches in diameter) to cut out circles of dough.
- Place the dough circles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a kitchen towel and let them rise for about 30 minutes until puffy.
- Fry the Donuts:
- In a deep fryer or a large heavy-bottomed pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully fry the dough circles in batches, a few at a time, until golden brown on both sides, about 1-2 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried donuts to a paper towel-lined tray to drain excess oil.
- Fill the Donuts:
