★Ingredients
1 large head of cabbage, chopped
1 large onion, thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
6-8 slices of bacon, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: a pinch of red pepper flakes for some heat
★Instructions
- Cook the Bacon:
- In a large skillet or frying pan, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until it’s crispy. This should take about 7-10 minutes.
- Once cooked, remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside. Leave the bacon fat in the pan.
- Cook the Onion and Garlic:
- In the same pan with the bacon fat, add the sliced onion. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Cook the Cabbage:
- Add the chopped cabbage to the pan with the onions and garlic. Stir to combine.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and starts to brown. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
- Combine and Season:
- Once the cabbage is cooked to your liking, add the cooked bacon back to the pan. Stir to combine.
- Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Adjust the seasoning to taste.
- Serve:
- Serve the fried cabbage and bacon hot. It can be a side dish or a main course.
Enjoy!
