Savoy cabbage and mushrooms

★Ingredients

1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

200 grams (about 7 oz) mushrooms, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional for extra depth of flavor)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil or sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

★Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients:
  • Thinly slice the cabbage.
  • Slice the mushrooms.
  • Thinly slice the onion.
  • Mince the garlic and ginger.
  1. Heat the Oil:
  • In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  1. Cook the Aromatics:
  • Add the garlic and ginger to the hot oil. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  1. Add Onions and Mushrooms:
  • Add the sliced onions and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are soft and the onions are translucent.
  1. Stir in the Cabbage:
  • Add the sliced cabbage to the skillet. Stir well to combine. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the cabbage starts to wilt.
  1. Season:
  • Pour in the soy sauce and oyster sauce (if using). Stir well to coat the vegetables. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp.
  1. Garnish and Serve:
  • Remove from heat. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
