Caramel Popcorn Recipe

★Ingredients

10 cups of popped popcorn

1 cup of brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup of light corn syrup

1 cup of unsalted butter

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

1/2 teaspoon of salt

★Instructions

  1. Prepare Popcorn: Pop the popcorn and place it in a large bowl, making sure to remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. Make Caramel Sauce:
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  • Stir in the brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Once it starts boiling, stop stirring and let it boil for 5 minutes without stirring.
  1. Add Baking Soda and Vanilla:
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully stir in the baking soda and vanilla extract. The mixture will bubble up, so be careful.
  1. Combine Popcorn and Caramel:
  • Pour the caramel sauce over the popcorn, stirring well to coat all the popcorn evenly.
  1. Bake:
  • Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  • Spread the caramel-coated popcorn on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even coating and baking.
  1. Cool and Store:
  • Remove the popcorn from the oven and let it cool completely. Break apart any large clumps.
  • Store the caramel popcorn in an airtight container for up to a week.
