Delicious bread for breakfast

★Ingredients

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup warm water (about 110°F/45°C)

1/4 cup sugar

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 teaspoon salt

1 large egg

★Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast:
  • In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar in the warm water.
  • Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
  1. Mix the Dough:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  • Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the yeast mixture, oil, and egg.
  • Mix until the dough comes together.
  1. Knead the Dough:
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface.
  • Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
  • If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time.
  1. First Rise:
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning it once to grease the top.
  • Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  1. Shape the Dough:
  • Punch down the dough to release the air.
  • Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a loaf.
  1. Second Rise:
  • Place the shaped dough into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  • Cover again with the kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes, until it has risen slightly over the top of the pan.
  1. Bake the Bread:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
  1. Cool the Bread:
  • Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  • Turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
